Relationship Counselling Kettering

Relationship Counselling is valid and effective for all sorts of relationships, husband and wife; partners; siblings; parents and their children; friends, straight, gay and bisexual individuals and couples. As individuals we often experience thoughts, feelings or demonstrate behaviours which can bother us and may affect us psychologically and emotionally. Sometimes we may not be aware of why we are feeling anxious or sad: the feelings can seem to arrive from nowhere. Often these can impact upon our relationships with others whether it is at home or at work. Relationship counselling can offer an opportunity to explore these unwanted feelings and thoughts, to try to understand why they occur and help you to seek a more meaningful way forward.

Relationship Counselling can offer a range of things:

  • Offers an opportunity to take time out of your situation to explore the issues which may be troubling you and can help to support you in looking at things differently.
  • Working together with a Relationship Counsellor can allow you and your partner/family member an opportunity to talk together, this may be for the first time and learn about each other’s needs; assumptions; fears and roles within your relationship.
  • It can provide a safe and confidential place to share a secret, to cry, be angry, sad or happy.

Who can Relationship Counselling help:

  • Individuals experiencing emotional distress, where the focus is on raising self awareness, reflection and gradual change.
  • Couples who are experiencing difficulties and need emotional support at a time of change and uncertainty in their relationship.
  • Individuals who find building and maintaining intimate relationships difficult.
  • Families in which parents have separated or divorced.
  • Families which have been newly formed and maintenance of past and present relationships are proving stressful.

These are some of the areas in which relationship counselling can help:

  • Improved communication/listening.
  • Increasing our understanding of each other’s needs.
  • Loss – bereavement, trauma, divorce and separation.
  • Being a good enough parent.
  • Reduce anxiety and stress.
