Joanne Mander – Relationship Counsellor


I am a fully qualified Relationship Counsellor . I have a Masters Degree in Relationship Therapy from Relate (validated by the University of Hull). I have received further training in mental health difficulties, step families, and sexual issues within the couple relationship. I work as a Counsellor for Relate and also offer Relationship support to a single fathers website called DadTalk. I also work as an Occupational Therapist and have 25 years experience in the NHS.  I work with adults and their families supporting them through the process of change and re-adjustment to new circumstances, following a trauma such as an amputation; stroke and chronic health conditions.

My Relationship Counselling Approach

I work as an Integrative practioner. This means that I have a range of skills and techniques from different therapeutic models which I can blend to suit the needs of my client. I aim to provide a supportive relationship in which to enable you and/or your partner and family members to explore the issues which may be troubling you. I work in a non-judgemental and open way to help you solve issues and move forward positively in your relationships.

Telephone Counselling Training: working with long and short term clients Sept/Oct 2013 I am a member of BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and ACTO (Association for Counselling and Therapy Online) and abide by their ethical guidelines. I am committed to continuing professional development and undertake regular supervision.
